This analysis of the Zordon Era Power Rangers may contain spoilers, and may also ruin the entire series for some people. I am writing this to bring light to the fact that Zordon being the greatest good in the universe, put evil in its place and destroyed it. Or did he? Is everything after the Zordon Era pointless? That will be for you to debate after you read the entirety of this essay, and hopefully made clear in this essay.

Many of you may remember the television show, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.  Many of you were probably like me. You would go home after school and await 5pm Fox Kids just so you could watch your 5 favorite heroes defend the city of Angel Grove from the evil space alien Rita Repulsa and her chorines Goldar, Finster, Scorpina, Baboo, Squat, and the seemingly endless hordes of the putties.  The Rangers were led by their strong, and good leader Zordon, an inter-dimensional being that has been doing battle with Rita for thousands of years.  He runs his Command Center with the help of the robot Alpha 5.

We all know that the Power Rangers all attained their powers from the Morphing Grid, of which Zordon is tapped into and is pretty much a part of.  Zordon was the one who called for the Original Rangers, Jason (red), Trini (yellow), Billy (blue), Kimberly (pink), and Zach (black) when Rita started attacking Angel Grove.  They fought valiantly and used their powers for good.  However, Zordon was not the only power in the universe with access to the Morphing Grid. Rita Repulsa also had access, and had attained something that would prove to be a very formidable opponent for the Power Rangers.  She had acquired the sixth power coin.

Enter the Evil Green Ranger, Tommy.  Having a power coin allowed him access to the Command Center, which in it of itself was dangerous, despite the fact that he also possessed the Sword of Darkness that gave him even more dangerous powers.  Tommy eventually teleported into the Command Center where he then proceeded to give Alpha 5 a virus, destroy the control panels, and make Zordon effectively disappear.  This would have more implications that the Rangers would soon discover.  As the Evil Green Ranger then unleashed another deadly attack on the city of Angel Grove, the Rangers powers were extremely diminished. Their Zords lacked power, and they could barely fight off the Green Ranger, let alone Goldar and Scorpina at the same time.  Rita cut the Megazord off from the sun and caused the Zords to fall into the center of the Earth.

Alpha 5 and Billy worked as hard as they could to restore Zordon and the command center, and just as they found a lead, Billy was called back into action by the other Rangers as a new foe appeared; The Dragonzord.  Now the Green Ranger had a Zord of his own, and was not afraid to use it.  The Rangers were once again getting demolished when Alpha 5 had a breakthrough. He somehow managed to bring Zordon back to this dimension, and with him, a new surge of power.  Their morphers began to light up, and they were teleported to their Zords that were re-emerging from the earth, completely energized and ready to fight.  With the return of Zordon, the battle had just turned to the Power Rangers' favor.  A vicious battle occurred between Jason and Tommy, and eventually ended with Jason's Tyrannosaurus Zord beating Dragonzord, and the ultimate destruction of the Sword of Darkness, thereby breaking the evil powers bewitching Tommy. With that, the Sixth Ranger was now good, and joined the team, adding new power that would ultimately serve them well.

Eventually Rita had failed enough that a new enemy appeared, Lord Zedd.  He beat the Rangers' Dinozords into tomorrow and forced them to get stronger, more powerful Zords.  He also takes away a great deal of Tommy's powers through many different means. Zordon and Alpha 5 then created the Thunderzords.  Tommy however was not given a new Zord, and was forced to rely on his diminishing Green Ranger powers.  At the time Zordon was constantly trying to extend the life of Tommy's Ranger experience by infusing his own powers into Tommy allowing his powers to be restored temporarily.  Eventually Tommy's Green Ranger powers extinguish and he is forced to step down as a ranger.  This is where things get interesting.

Yes Zordon was able to create new Zords, and even restore Tommy's powers slightly, but he and Alpha 5 take it upon themselves to abandon the Command Center for a small period of time while they create a new Ranger.  Yes I said it, a NEW Ranger, power coin and all.  Zordon created the new leader of the Power Rangers, the White Ranger, and gave him a new Zord, known as the Tigerzord.  But who would be this new leader?  Zordon being the genius that he is selected none other than their own Tommy.  The Rangers fight off Zedd many times but eventually get caught between Zedd and a hard place, getting their new Zords literally ripped limb from limb.  Zordon is unable to give them new powers for some reason, and sets the Rangers out on a new quest, a quest for Ninja Powers.

The Rangers set out to find the great Ninjor who allows the Rangers to see the Ninjetti powers deep inside them.  When the Rangers return to Zordon, he informs them that they have new Zords waiting for them, known as the Ninjazords.  The Rangers fought long and hard against Zedd and Rita. Yes I said Rita. She had tricked Zedd into marrying her, thereby making them an almost unstoppable force.  The Rangers were forced to upgrade their Zords and yet again, Zordon and Alpha 5 had created newer more powerful Zords to combat Zedd and Rita known as the Shogunzords (Shogun relates to Samurai not Ninja's but whatever).  These Zords were extremely powerful and gave Zedd and Rita something to fear.  They figured out that the only way to beat the Rangers was to make them kids again, thereby stripping them of their powers.  The Rangers then had to call on help from another planet, Aquitar.

These new Rangers came to fight off Zedd and Rita while the Rangers figured out how to get themselves back to normal size and age.  Their powers were also tied to the Morphing Grid and had intricate knowledge of Zordon and the good work that he has supposedly done across he universe.  These 'Alien Rangers' as they were called fought hard and long, until it was realized that the only way for the Rangers could return to their old selves was to go on a journey to find the new Power that Zordon could make into Ranger Powers known as the Zeo Crystal.  The Rangers all went on journeys to discover themselves and what they were truly about, and by the end of it they had discovered their fragment of the Zeo Crystal.  Unfortunately when they were gone, Goldar and Rita's brother Rito Revolto had planted a bomb in the Command Center destroying it upon the Rangers Return.

Among the rubble of the once powerful Command Center they stood with the completed Zeo Crystal in hand.  Suddenly the crystal shot out energy causing them to fall down into a corridor that led them to a new base. The underground Command Chamber.  Zordon and Alpha 5 apparently made this in case something were to happen to the original, and they made this their permanent residence.  The rangers were then given new Zords that Zordon and Billy created and used them to fight off an evil so powerful that it literally scared off Zedd and Rita. King Mondo and the Machine Empire had come to take over the world.  He was strong and much more clever than Zedd and Rita devising plans that pushed the rangers to their limits.  The Rangers were actually on the verge of being destroyed once again, until a new power entered the scene, the power of Gold.  The Gold Ranger was a Zeo Ranger from another planet that again, had ties to Zordon in some manner.  This Zeo Ranger eventually passes his powers to an old friend, Jason, and allows the Zeo Rangers to fight King Mondo in full force.

The battles were fierce and eventually Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa made a return and tried to fight off Mondo, and Jason got caught in the crossfire. After a series of battles between Zedd, Rita and Mondo, Jason was forced to give the Gold Ranger Powers back to their original owner and the Zeo Rangers were forced to fight without him.  Eventually the Rangers fought alongside the original Gold Ranger and ended up destroying the King Mondo and the Machine Empire.  With this Victory the tide of good and evil would take a deadly turn.  Divatox, a new villain had appeared and was threatening the Rangers and once again, Angel Grove.  Something had to be done.

The Zeo Powers were still around and still extremely potent, however Zordon figured it best to create NEW powers from the Morphing Grid.  Yet again Zordon has created a new set of powers, this time he harnessed the power of Turbo, giving birth to the Turbo Rangers.  The Zeo Crystal was left behind as the new Turbo Rangers set off to fight Divatox.  In the eyes of many these powers were nowhere near as powerful as Zeo Powers, and it showed. Divatox fought hard, and continuously beat the Rangers in multiple battles.  Zordon and Alpha 5 soon disembark for Zordon's home planet of Eltar and a new force of good come to fight by the Rangers side. Dimitria of Inquiris and the new Alpha 6 came to the Rangers aide and attempted to fill the shoes of Zordon and Alpha 5.  This would however not be the case.  A new evil force called the United Alliance of Evil captured Zordon. When the Rangers learned of this they were devastated because they could not leave Earth Defenseless.  Not long after that their Command Chamber was attacked, and completely obliterated by Divatox and her army of minions, forcing the Rangers to embark on a new quest for power, the power of Space.

Once in Space the rangers encounter Andros, the new Leader of the group.  He gives them the 4 remaining astro-morphers, as he already has 1, and they all transform into the newest Rangers; Power Rangers in Space.  This fight would prove to be interesting, as the main villain that they fought against was none other then Andros' sister, Astronema.  She is in charge of a large group of enemies and constantly forces Andros into a state of confusion about what side he should be fighting for.  A new ranger came onto the scene, when 4 of the Rangers stumble upon Zhane, a close ally of Andros, who is also the Silver Ranger.  He is invaluable, and allows the Rangers to get even more power.  Throughout Space, old friends come back to fight, like the Black Ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Adam Park (who took over for Zach).  He is seen grabbing his morpher, which is very heavily damaged, and is rightly so, as that power has long since been destroyed.  He morphs to save the current Black Ranger and gets seriously hurt because he was using the last of his supposedly nonexistent powers.

Astronema allies herself with the ultimate evil, Dark Specter, and at his orders, Zordon is to be drained of his life energy thereby letting evil reign supreme.   Dark Specter orders the United Alliance of Evil to attack the entire universe, fighting familiar allies such as the Alien Rangers, The Gold Rangers, and many other allies of the Rangers in the past.  Andros invades Astronema's fortress to save her, but in doing so, stumbles across Zordon.  He orders Andros to destroy his energy tube thereby releasing his good energy destroying the evil in the universe;a however doing this would also kill Zordon.  Andros declines at first, and fights Astronema and one of her ally's known as Ecliptor, and doesn't fare well.  After these fights he has no choice and complies with Zordon's last wish.  He takes his sword and strikes Zordon's energy tube killing Zordon, but also releasing all his good energy thereby eliminating all evil in the universe.

When this happens, every evil force across the universe is shown to either turn to dust, or to change back into a good, non-evil human. Lord Zedd, Rita, and Divatox were changed back into humans, and Astronema was returned to her normal Good loving self.

We all know that Power Rangers in Space was not the last Ranger series.  The series continues with Galaxy and spans into many different groups of Rangers.  What I realized after years of knowing this outcome is that is that based on this analysis, none of the Power Ranger series after Space are relevant or possible. If Zordon was so in tuned with the Morphing Grid that when he left the Rangers' dimension they lost power, how is the Morphing Grid even functional anymore? If his good energy was spread throughout the universe, why is there still evil? None of these rangers are said to be in a different dimension or universe, so how did the evil come back?

Was Zordon's life taken in vain? I believe so. For some reason the ultimate source of good that created the power coins and the Zords was not ultimate enough. With Zordon's death, came the death of the Morphing Grid, and in my eyes the rest of the Power Rangers past Space do not exist as POWER RANGERS; as super-heroes yes, but not as THE Rangers. Zordon was the source of good, and for all intent and purposes there is no evil left because of him.  I blame Disney, and partly Saban for wanting to continue after Space, as it was obviously supposed to be their last series.

Shame on you Saban, shame on you Disney. You took the Ultimate Good, and made him die in Vain. The soul purpose for the continuance of the series was to make money, with no regard to the actual storyline.  Everything Zordon worked for has been thrown out the window, and the original purpose of the Power Rangers as heroes and role models have been lost in this lust for profit. This is also why I will not be watching Power Rangers Samurai when it airs.
This is my analysis of the Power Rangers Series from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (Season 1) - Power Rangers in Space (Season 6). These seasons are better known as "The Zordon Era."

I apologize for making this so long an seemingly annoying, but I really find Power Rangers to be a source of inspiration for kids, and even for adults. The original series is what shaped me as a person, and taught me life values.

Please take the time to read this and let me know what you all think. Am I wrong? Did I over analyze? Or am I just stupid for writing this? Let me know.

I just don't think the "Z-Wave" reached far enough and also just cause he's gone doesn't mean the Morphing Grid is. He was just a big part of it. All he did was eliminate the biggest threat the universe probably will ever know. Apparently he's the one that put the Quantan Sabers in that stone before Galaxy began and considering that Wild Force's initial conflict happened 3000 years before the series started with animals that become Zords also, it's highly likely that Galaxy and Wild Force are closely linked.
